ITINERARY IN DETAIL
Day 01: Mumbai
You will be met on arrival and transferred to hotel
After a morning at leisure, visit the Prince of
Wales Museum, the Gateway of India overlooking the
harbor, and the Dhobi Ghat, a unique and colorful
outdoor laundry. Then drive up Malabar Hill to the
lovely Hanging Gardens and Kamla Nehru Park. Back
in the city, we visit Mani Bhawan, a small museum
dedicated to the life and works of Mahatma Gandhi,
and end our day at bustling Crawford Market.
Day 02: Mumbai
— Madurai
Fly to Madurai, where afternoon sightseeing includes
the Meenakshi Amman Temple, Thousand Pillar Mandapam
and Thirumalai Nayakar Mahal.
Day 03: Madurai
A full day excursion shows us Chettinad, with a
visit to the Rajah of Chettinad’s home.
Day 04: Madurai
— Periyar
After breakfast, we drive to Periyar. Here, on an
afternoon “safari cruise” on Lake Periyar,
we slip slowly through the animals’ jungle
environment.
Day
05: Periyar — Kumarakom
We travel to Kumarakom this morning followed by
an afternoon at leisure.
Day 06: Kumarakom
Visit the Spice Plantation followed by lunch with
a local family.
Day 06: Kumarakom —
Cochin
Transfer by boat to Allepy for a glimpse of Kerala’s
village lifestyle, then continue to Cochin. This
evening enjoy a Kathakali dance performance.
Day 07: Cochin
Tour Cochin’s Jewish Synagogue, Fort Kochi,
and St. Francis Church, the oldest church constructed
by the Europeans in India.
Day 08: Cochin — Delhi
We fly to Delhi and transfer to our hotel.
Day 09: Delhi
Today’s sightseeing includes the Presidential
Palace and Parliament House; a stop to see the Qutub
Minar, Humayun’s Tomb and India Gate; and
the Diplomatic Enclave. This afternoon we tour the
Raj Ghat, Delhi’s monument to Mahatma Gandhi,
the Red Fort citadel and the Jama Masjid Mosque.
Day 10: Delhi — Agra
Travel by train this morning to Agra, where an afternoon
city tour is followed by a visit to the Taj Mahal
at sunset.
Day 11: Agra — Jaipur
After a morning visit to the Taj Mahal we drive
to Jaipur, stopping enroute to visit Fatehpur Sikri.
Day 12:
Jaipur
This morning we visit the Amber Fort and enjoy an
elephant ride, followed by an afternoon at leisure.
Day 13:
Jaipur — Delhi
After a city tour of Jaipur we fly to Delhi. And
onward connection
