Travel through the Himalayan kingdoms and absorb the cultural side of the Himalayas. Its colourful festivals, old monasteries, spiritual people and beautiful landscapes have never failed to make an impression.

ITINERARY IN DETAIL

Day 01 : Arrive Kolkata (Calcutta)
A warm welcome awaits you at Kolkata airport by our representative and thereafter you are transferred to the hotel.

Day 02 : Kolkata
Morning tour of Kolkata an almost Victorian industrial city, but with 'dhotis' instead of bowlers. Visit Howrah Station and see the huge cantilever bridge over the Hooghly River. At the great Maidan, the Victoria Memorial houses relics from British India. Afternoon, you will visit Mother Theresa's Ashram.

Day 03 : Fly Kolkata - Bagdogra - Darjeeling (93 kms / 58 miles)
Morning flight to Bagdogra. On arrival, drive to Darjeeling.

Day 04 : Darjeeling
Darjeeling, set on the top of a wooded ridge, has commanding views of both the plains and the high mountains, including Kanchanjunga. Visit the Tibetan Refugee Center, the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute and one of the famous tea plantations that were established in the middle of the last century.

Day 05 : Darjeeling - Gangtok ( 98 kms / 61 miles ) Morning, drive to Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim since the 19th century. On a clear Day, it affords excellent views up the Zemu valley to Kanchanjunga.

Day 06 : Gangtok

ToDay, we visit the Cottage Industries Emporium with its fine array of traditional crafts including hand woven carpets, shawls and carved furniture. We also visit the Tibetan Institute where many valuable manuscripts are stored after they were brought to Sikkim in 1959.

Day 07 : Gangtok - Kalimpong

From Gangtok we head to Kalimpong. En route visit Rumtek Monastery, 24 kms from Gangtok. The monastery is affiliated with one of the important Tibetan Buddhist sector, Kargyapapa sector. Thereafter, continue drive to Kalimpong.

Day 08 : Kalimpong - Phuntsholing
( 183 kms / 115 miles )
We drive to the India Bhutan border where we clear immigration and customs formalities. here we pass under an impressive archway that marks the formal entry/exit to the Kingdom of Bhutan, and are greeted by our Bhutan guides. Continue our drive to Phuntsholing.

Day 09 : Phuntsholing - Thimphu ( 176 kms / 110 miles )
Our drive toDay winds through Thimphu Valley.

Day 10 : Thimphu
Full Day tour of Thimphu. Thimphu has been the capital since 1960 (The previous being Punakha). The town is by no means large and can be easily explored on foot. The secretariat building, the Tashichhodzong is the mot prominent building. We also visit the large stupa dedicated to the late king H M Jimgedorji Wanchuk, regarded as the founder of modern Day Bhutan. Also visit the post office for Bhutan's exquisite world-renowned stamps.

Day 11 : Thimphu - Paro

Morning drive to Paro. Rest of the Day is at leisure.

Day 12 : Paro
ToDay, we will visit the Paro Dzong and the even older Ta Dzong that now houses the national Museum of Bhutan. Afternoon, visit the foot of Taktsand Monastery, said to have been one of the divine resting place of the Guru Ringpoche.

Day 13 : Fly Paro - Kathmandu
Early morning, transfer to airport for flight to Kathmandu. On arrival, transfer to hotel. Afternoon, explore the colorful durbar square and travel to the remarkable stupas of Boudhnath, one of largest in the world.

Day 14 : Kathmandu

Morning, excursion to Patan and Bhadgaon, two of the valleys ancient sites, to see intricate wood carvings representing 18th century Nepalese architecture.

Day 15 : Kathmandu - Home

Transfer to the airport for flight back home.
